The SUNSUN HW-704B is an external filter designed for freshwater and marine aquariums with a capacity of up to 600 liters. The unit offers a flow rate of 2000 l/h and is equipped with an integrated 9W UV-C lamp that helps maintain water clarity. The four-stage filtration system allows for the use of various filter media, and the large housing accommodates a set of filter baskets for mechanical, biological, and chemical filtration. Thanks to swivel hose connections and the ability to place the filter next to or under the aquarium, it can be easily adapted to the available space.

Four-stage filtration for stable water parameters

The HW-704B model uses four filtration stages to effectively remove contaminants from the water. The kit includes filter media such as sponges, filter floss, ceramic rings, and bio balls that provide a habitat for beneficial filter bacteria. The filter baskets can be configured according to the tank’s needs, adjusting the type of cartridges used to the fish and plant population. The use of an easily accessible pre-filter protects the deeper layers of media from clogging with larger contaminants and facilitates regular maintenance.

Built-in UV-C lamp for water clarity

The most important feature distinguishing the HW-704B model is its integrated 9 W UV-C lamp. Water flowing through the UV chamber is exposed to radiation that helps limit the growth of algae, bacteria, and other microorganisms suspended in the water. This allows biological contaminants to be more easily captured by the remaining filter media. The manufacturer estimates the lamp’s lifespan at approximately 7,000–10,000 hours of operation and recommends periodic replacement of the lamp and cleaning of the quartz sleeve.

Convenient operation and thoughtful design

The filter is equipped with a manual pump to facilitate initial startup and system venting. A multifunctional valve with a quick-connect fitting allows hoses to be disconnected without draining the entire filter, which streamlines maintenance. 360° swivel hose connections allow for convenient installation even in confined spaces. Rubber shock-absorbing feet help dampen vibrations generated by the powerful pump, and the ceramic impeller shaft ensures stable operation of the filtration system.
