How to choose:
• SAS/SATA backplane → Mini-SAS HD SFF-8643 or SlimSAS SFF-8654 (fan-out to 4× SATA/SAS if needed).
• Tri-mode HBA (SAS/SATA/NVMe) → SlimSAS SFF-8654-8i to U.2/U.3 backplane/drives.
• NVMe U.2 drives → U.2 (SFF-8639) or OCuLink (SFF-8611) per motherboard/HBA.
• External JBOD → SFF-8644 (12G) or SFF-8088 (6G) matched end-to-end.
• Rack power → C13 for ≤10A gear, C19 for high-draw PSUs; consider locking IEC and color-coded cords.
Compatibility tips: Match the exact SFF connector and protocol—SAS HBAs control SATA but not NVMe; NVMe requires PCIe-capable backplanes/HBAs. Keep cable runs short for signal integrity, respect bend radius, and label both ends.
