Description

Shelly Pro LoRa Add-on Relay

The Shelly Pro LoRa Add-on is a galvanically isolated expansion module designed for compatible devices from the Shelly Pro series, enabling wireless communication via LoRa (Long Range) technology at distances of up to 5 km. This solution was designed for installations where traditional Wi-Fi or wired networks do not provide adequate coverage or where their use is impractical. Thanks to its compact size, DIN-rail mounting, and easy integration with Shelly Pro devices, the module allows you to expand your existing automation system without the need for additional gateways or complex infrastructure. It is the ideal choice for industrial facilities, farms, municipal installations, and large commercial buildings where reliable communication is critical.

Long-Range Connectivity

LoRa technology was designed for energy-efficient wireless communication over very long distances. The Shelly Pro LoRa Add-on enables data transmission over distances of up to 5 km, making it ideal for situations where devices are located far apart or operate in areas with limited network coverage. Stable communication is maintained even in challenging environments, such as industrial halls, warehouses, large properties, or facilities with numerous structural obstacles. This solution allows you to maintain full control over automation even where standard communication technologies fail.

Even Better Range Thanks to an External Antenna

The module is equipped with an SMA connector that allows you to connect the included antenna or use a model with higher gain. The antenna can also be routed outside the metal switchgear, which significantly improves signal quality and increases communication range. This allows the installation to be easily adapted to the specific conditions of a given facility, ensuring stable data exchange even under challenging conditions.

Simple integration with Shelly Pro devices

The Shelly Pro LoRa Add-on is not a standalone device—it works with compatible Shelly Pro relays and modules, from which it draws power and with which it communicates via a dedicated serial interface. The solution is designed to allow for quick expansion of an existing installation without requiring additional power supplies or complex hardware configuration. To establish LoRa communication, you need at least two compatible devices equipped with LoRa support—either two Shelly Pro LoRa Add-on modules or one Shelly Pro device with built-in LoRa support and one Shelly Pro LoRa Add-on module.

Automation Tailored to Your Needs

Support for custom scripts allows you to create advanced automation scenarios tailored to specific applications. The module can operate in one-to-one, one-to-many, many-to-one, or many-to-many configurations, providing great flexibility when designing the system. At the same time, the Shelly Pro device retains its standard functionality, serving simultaneously as a local controller and a LoRa communication hub. This allows you to create complex control systems without sacrificing the existing capabilities of your devices.

Secure and Energy-Efficient Communication

Built-in AES-CCM encryption protects transmitted data from unauthorized access, ensuring secure communication even in large-scale installations. An additional security measure is galvanic isolation, which increases the module’s operational reliability and helps protect connected devices from interference and unwanted current flow between circuits. The module supports unicast, multicast, and broadcast communication in accordance with the Shelly protocol, which facilitates the construction of complex device networks. Low power consumption (less than 150 mW) minimizes energy usage, and support for Low Power mode on the EU868 band allows for optimized transmission and efficient communication within the applicable duty cycle.

One solution, many applications

The Shelly Pro LoRa Add-on is ideal wherever devices are spread out over a large area or located in hard-to-reach places. It can control street and parking lot lighting, automatically adjusting the operating schedule based on traffic volume or weather conditions, while monitoring energy consumption and detecting malfunctions. In agriculture, it enables remote management of pumps, irrigation systems, and lighting across vast areas, helping to reduce water and energy consumption. It also works perfectly in warehouses, where it allows for the control of zone lighting, heating, and ventilation systems, as well as the monitoring of equipment operation. The module is also used in remote technical facilities and solar farms, enabling remote monitoring of installations, monitor their status, and quickly detect drops in performance or malfunctions, which results in shorter downtime and lower operating costs.
