The Shelly Presence Gen4 is a motion sensor that uses mmWave radar to detect the actual presence of people, even when they remain completely still. The device can track up to 6 people simultaneously, supports up to 10 configurable detection zones, and monitors an area of up to 42 m², ensuring exceptionally precise home automation. Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, Zigbee 3.0, Bluetooth 5 LE, and Matter certification enable easy integration with modern smart home systems, while the compact design (64 × 41 × 26 mm without the base) allows for discreet installation of the sensor in almost any room.

Detecting actual presence rather than just motion

Traditional motion sensors often fail to detect a user when they are sitting at a desk, reading a book, or watching TV. Shelly Presence Gen4 solves this problem with a 60–64 GHz radar that detects the presence of even a completely motionless person. As a result, lighting, air conditioning, and other automated systems remain active as long as someone is actually in the room, ensuring greater comfort and eliminating unnecessary shutdowns of devices.

Smart automation for multiple zones and users

The device can simultaneously identify and track up to 6 people, allowing for the creation of significantly more advanced automation scenarios. Support for up to 10 independent detection zones enables different actions to be assigned to specific areas of a room. In large living rooms, offices, or open spaces, lighting can be turned on only where users are currently present, which increases convenience and helps reduce unnecessary energy consumption. Additionally, the device displays detected people on a room map, allowing you to monitor their locations in real time and more easily configure zones and automations tailored to the interior layout.

Fewer false detections and greater operational precision

The Shelly Presence Gen4 sensor allows you to adjust detection sensitivity and transmission power, so you can tailor its operation to a specific room. It offers floor-level motion filtering and the ability to ignore small objects, such as pets or cleaning robots. This prevents accidental triggering of automations and ensures that the system responds primarily to human presence.

Built-in Light Sensor

In addition to detecting presence, the device also monitors ambient light levels and recognizes three states: dark, dim, and bright. As a result, automations can take into account not only the presence of users but also current lighting conditions. This allows for the creation of more natural scenes, such as activating soft lighting at dusk or full brightness after dark.

Easy Integration with Smart Home Systems

The Shelly Presence Gen4 supports Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5 LE, Zigbee 3.0, and Matter over Wi-Fi, making it easy to integrate into your chosen smart home ecosystem. It works with Shelly Cloud, Home Assistant, and other popular automation platforms. It also supports Amazon Alexa, Google Smart Home, and Samsung SmartThings, and the built-in web interface allows you to directly configure, monitor, and change the device’s settings from a web browser—without the need for additional apps. When integrated with Matter-compatible systems, one room zone is available by default. However, the sensor supports up to 10 zones, and each additional zone added is presented in the Matter system as a separate component, allowing you to create more complex automations.

Discreet installation that fits any interior

With a compact housing measuring just 64 × 41 × 26 mm (without the base), the sensor blends easily into any room’s decor. It can be placed on a shelf, table, or cabinet thanks to its stable base, or mounted on a wall using double-sided tape or the included screws. The device also supports 180° inverted mounting, allowing you to better adapt its operation to the room’s layout. The recommended mounting height is 2 m, and the maximum room height is 5 m.

Automatically turning off lights and devices when a room is vacated helps reduce energy consumption, while precise presence detection enhances the convenience of everyday smart home use. The mmWave radar operates without cameras, allowing it to monitor user presence while maintaining privacy—which is particularly important in bedrooms, home offices, and bathrooms.
