How to choose:
1) Match socket/chipset (Xeon vs EPYC) and required PCIe generation (Gen4/Gen5).
2) Check RAM type (ECC RDIMM/LRDIMM) and max capacity per CPU/channel.
3) For storage, confirm backplane protocol (SATA/SAS/NVMe) and choose RAID/HBA accordingly—Tri-mode for mixed setups.
4) Size NICs to workload: 10/25 GbE for virtualization/NAS, 40/100 GbE for backbones; pick SFP+/SFP28/QSFP to match your switch optics.
5) Verify PSU form factor/watts, redundancy needs, and fan orientation/airflow for your chassis.
