How to choose: Use balanced XLR/¼″ TRS for long runs and pro gear (better noise rejection). For consumer gear, pick RCA or 3.5 mm. Headsets with mic need TRRS (or a TRRS↔TRS splitter). Need ground-loop isolation or long TV runs? Try optical TOSLINK. Finish with a certified  USB-C cable where required.
