SUNSUN CUV-224 UV-C Lamp

The SunSun CUV-224 is a UV-C lamp designed for ponds with a capacity of up to 35,000 liters, which effectively reduces the growth of algae, bacteria, and other microorganisms responsible for cloudiness and greening of the water. The unit is equipped with a 24 W UV-C lamp, while the total power consumption is 26 W. The recommended water flow rate of 4,500 l/h allows for effective water purification without the use of chemicals, making this solution safe for fish, plants, and the entire pond ecosystem. The CUV-224 model features universal connectors compatible with hoses of 3/4", 1", 1 1/4", and 1 1/2" diameters, making it easy to connect to most popular filtration systems.

Effective control of algae and bacteria

During operation, water flows through a chamber equipped with a UV-C lamp, where the radiation destroys algae, bacteria, and mold spores suspended in the water. This reduces the formation of green water, which often occurs during periods of intense sunlight. Dead algae clump together into larger particles that can be easily captured by a mechanical or biological filter. Regular operation of the lamp helps maintain better water clarity and supports stable conditions for the pond’s inhabitants.

Spiral flow for greater efficiency

Inside the unit, a special element directs the water flow in a spiral path around the UV-C emitter. This design extends the water’s exposure time to the radiation, increasing purification efficiency compared to standard designs. The best results are achieved in combination with a biological filter, which removes contaminants retained after exposure to UV-C rays. As a result, the entire filtration system operates more efficiently, and the pond regains its natural clarity more quickly.

Durable construction and safe operation

The housing is made of durable ASA and ABS plastics, which withstand the conditions near water bodies well. The device has an IP44 protection rating, making it suitable for outdoor use. The manufacturer recommends installing the lamp at a minimum distance of 2 meters from the edge of the pond in accordance with VDE safety guidelines. The UV-C lamp has a service life of approximately 8,000 hours, but to maintain maximum purification efficiency, it is recommended to replace it at the beginning of each season. For koi ponds, please note that approximately 3 W of UV-C power is required per 1 m³ of water; therefore, the CUV-224 model is recommended for koi ponds with a capacity of up to approximately 8,000 liters.
