The Shelly Wave i4 LR is a smart input module that allows you to conveniently control Z-Wave devices and automation systems without having to replace your existing switches. The device supports up to 4 inputs and up to 16 different actions and scenes, allowing a single button to trigger complex automations and control lighting, blinds, or outlets. It utilizes the latest Z-Wave 800 Series and Z-Wave Long Range technology, ensuring stable communication over distances exceeding 1 km in a straight line. An additional advantage is its very low power consumption—less than 0.2 W—which allows for uninterrupted operation without a noticeable impact on electricity usage.

Smart control without replacing your wiring

The Wave i4 LR model does not contain relays—it is a module that reads signals from switches and buttons, which it then uses to control other devices on the Z-Wave network. This allows you to keep your existing wall switches while expanding your system with smart features. The module is mounted behind an existing switch, so the upgrade does not require changing the appearance of the installation or rewiring.

Up to 16 actions available with a single button

The Multi-click feature allows you to assign up to 4 different actions to each of the 4 inputs, for a total of up to 16 possible actions. With a single press, you can turn on the lights; with a double press, close the blinds; and with other combinations, trigger your own scenes or control other Z-Wave devices. This solution greatly simplifies the day-to-day operation of your smart home and lets you perform many tasks without reaching for your phone.

Stable communication even in large buildings

The device supports both the classic Z-Wave Plus network and Z-Wave Long Range, allowing you to tailor the communication method to the installation’s requirements. In Z-Wave Long Range mode, it connects directly to a compatible ZWLR gateway, ensuring stable communication over a distance exceeding 1 km in a straight line. In the Z-Wave Plus network, on the other hand, it operates at 868.4 MHz and can use a mesh topology, in which mains-powered devices extend the communication range.

Create Your Own Scenes and Automations

The Shelly Wave i4 LR allows you to manually trigger scenes and synchronized actions between Z-Wave devices. You can create your own scenarios involving lighting, blinds, outlets, or other smart home components, and then activate them with a single button press. This is a convenient way to quickly perform daily tasks without having to use an app. A compatible Z-Wave gateway is required to configure scenes.

Modern Z-Wave 800 Technology

The module uses the Z-Wave 800 Series (S800) chip, which ensures high communication performance and energy-efficient operation. It supports the SmartStart feature, which makes device setup exceptionally simple—just scan the QR code to begin the process of adding the device to the network. OTA (Over-the-Air) software updates are also available, allowing you to conveniently install new firmware versions without removing the device.

Security and Reliability

The Shelly Wave i4 LR uses Security 2 Authenticated with AES128 encryption, ensuring a high level of communication security on the Z-Wave network. The technology operates in the sub-GHz band, ensuring a stable connection that is less susceptible to interference. A Z-Wave Plus-compatible gateway is required to configure the device, while a compatible ZWLR gateway is necessary for operation in Z-Wave Long Range mode.
