PGY RetroVa Grip Kit for iPhone 16 Pro

The PGY RetroVa Grip Kit lets you enhance your iPhone 16 Pro with features found on classic cameras, providing a more comfortable experience when taking photos and recording videos. The grip features a physical shutter release, a zoom lever, a control dial, and customizable buttons, while the built-in microSD slot allows for direct recording of RAW photos and 4K footage. It also features a USB Type-C port with support for external recording, a 300 mAh battery, an Arca mount, a 1/4" tripod thread, and MagSafe compatibility. The package is rounded out by the PGYTECH Pro Imaging App, which provides manual control over image settings and lets you give your photos a more analog look.

Classic Camera Style and Convenient Mounting

The RetroVa’s design draws inspiration from classic cameras—a silver finish is combined with a black, lychee-grain leather-textured surface and a CNC-machined ring around the camera. The case is made of durable PC and retains its slim design, while the kit also includes aluminum alloy, microfiber, and silicone. The “Press to lock, twist to release” mounting system allows you to quickly attach the grip and remove it just as easily, making it simple to switch between regular smartphone use and photography. The case also supports MagSafe, allowing you to connect it to compatible magnetic accessories, such as lights.

Physical controls just like on a camera

An extensive set of buttons lets you control the most important functions without having to reach for the controls on the phone’s screen. The shutter button lets you focus by pressing it halfway, take a photo by pressing it all the way down, and start a burst of photos by holding it down for a longer time. The zoom lever is used to switch focal lengths in Vintage Mode or to smoothly adjust the zoom in Standard Mode. The control dial works in conjunction with the Mode button and can be used, among other things, to adjust ISO, exposure, and white balance, while the record button is fully customizable. The multifunction button controls power, quick start, mode selection, camera switching, and Bluetooth pairing.

More features with the PGYTECH app

The PGYTECH Pro Imaging App expands the kit’s capabilities with manual control over photographic settings such as shutter speed, ISO, and white balance. The retro-inspired interface makes it easy to achieve a look reminiscent of analog photography without the need for post-processing. The app also lets you add instant-photo-style watermarks and custom frames. There’s also a feature that reduces the iPhone’s default image sharpening, resulting in a more natural-looking photo.

MicroSD and External Recording

The microSD card slot in the grip allows you to save RAW photos and 4K videos directly to external storage, expanding your capabilities when creating more content. The USB 3.1 port offers transfer speeds of up to 312 MB/s and supports external recording in formats such as ProRes and HEVC. As a result, the RetroVa serves not only as a more comfortable camera grip but also expands your video recording capabilities. However, external recording of ProRes 4K at 60 fps or higher is not supported.

Expand the kit with additional lenses

The RetroVa system can be expanded with the 2.35X Master Telephoto Extender, available in other variants or sold separately, which is constructed from 13 elements of professional optical glass arranged in 3 groups. When paired with the iPhone 16 Pro, it provides a focal length of 282 mm and 11.7x magnification, with equivalent values reaching up to 960 mm and 40x. The design features an f/2.8 aperture, a resolution of 200 lp/mm, and 2% distortion, while the multi-layer nano-coating ensures a reflectance of less than 0.5%. An optional adapter for 62 mm and 67 mm filters is also available, along with a lightweight 2x telephoto lens with an adapter ring and a protective pouch.

Stable Mounting and a System Ready for Future Models

The mount’s base is compatible with Arca-type quick-release plates and features a 1/4" thread, allowing the kit to be mounted on a compatible tripod or other photography equipment. The grip itself weighs 63–65.4 g, expanding the ways you can use your smartphone without significantly adding to its weight. The RetroVa system is available for the iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max, and once the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max are released, it will be possible to replace just the case and continue using the other RetroVa accessories.
